Job responsibilities

Drive and manage all aspects of the execution of Project Contracts assigned, including administrative functions, engineering and delivery commitments, value-add customer engagements and contract margin management.  Ensure that contracts are executed timeously to meet budget, delivery, and quality standards.

  • Take the lead role within the company to manage the execution of FLSmidth Inc Projects, including facilitating and coordinating all activities of the contract required for successfully completing the order, and fulfilling all FLSmidth Inc contractual obligations proactively and with precision.
  • Ensure that contracts are executed at budget and on schedule while meeting quality requirements.
  • Proactively evaluate project budgets and take action to minimize costs. A preemptive, problem-solving approach is critical to success with budget alignment.
  • Proactively identify problems and resolve them on a hands-on, practical basis.
  • Keep all shareholders (i.e., Regions, Management and Sales Teams) informed of the contract progress. Communicate directly and proactively to ensure the mitigation of all potential time delays and associated budget implications.
  • Manage scope and change orders.
  • Review contracts and access risk early at the process.
  • Preempt possible project ‘issues’ and implement risk mitigation plans to reduce FLSmidth’s contractual risks.
  • Monitor engineering and procurement deliverables to ensure that the contract stays on track. Take the lead role in invoicing and collecting accounts receivable.
  • Prepare quarterly financial report for contracts in excess of $250,000.
  • Always represent FLSmidth Inc in a professional manner, especially on trips outside the office.
  • Maintain complete and orderly contract files.
  • This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and cooperation with multiple departments within FLS.
  • This position has full authority within company limits to make decisions on assigned contracts.
  • This position requires good technical and commercial understanding of the contracts.
  • This position requires good negotiation skills and ability to reach win-win agreements with clients and internally.
  • This position requires a person who can cope with a high level of responsibility while having no direct authority over the contract execution team.

What you bring

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, working on a variety of contracts at any one time
  • Ability to take quick decisions in a changing environment with a sense of urgency
  • 5-10 years of experience in contract execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience working with commercial terms and conditions and negotiations
  • Working knowledge of FLS product lines preferred
