According to the official NSFAS website, applications opened on 18 September 2026 and close on 31 October 2026. Applying is free and is done online through the NSFAS application system.

How to apply for NSFAS 2027

1. Go to the official NSFAS website.

2. Create or access your myNSFAS account.

3. Complete your personal and household information.

4. Provide consent for NSFAS to verify your information.

5. Upload any required supporting documents.

6. Submit the application.

7. Keep your application reference number and monitor your status on myNSFAS.

Important: Apply early rather than waiting for the deadline. There is currently some conflicting reporting about the closing date, but the official NSFAS website and South African government information currently state 31 October 2026.
