Requirements
To be considered for these government general worker jobs, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Minimum of an ABET Certificate (Higher qualifications are an added advantage).
- Experience: Prior experience in a similar maintenance or gardening environment is highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of gardening equipment and lawn care processes.
- Basic understanding of maintenance practices for water infrastructure (dams, canals, pipelines).
- Ability to perform physical labor and follow safety protocols.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As a General Worker, your daily tasks will include:
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining canals, pipelines, dams, and departmental buildings.
- Landscaping: Weed control, gardening, lawn care, and herbicide application.
- Safety & Inspections: Conducting routine inspections and maintaining fire breaks.
- Reporting: Promptly notifying supervisors of faults, defects, or hazards.
- Operations Support: Loading/offloading equipment and adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
