We strive to be the most knowledgeable electrical team concerning FLSmidth products and we do this through our team’s expertise and knowledge sharing with active cross training and mentoring. Along with team members distributed along the globe we execute projects following the multiple countries and site specific electrical standards, providing the team members a continuous learning and exposure to new challenges presented by the orders we execute.

The Electrical and Controls Designer ensures technical expertise of the controls aspects of product engineering by providing expert knowledge for the design, development and implementation of control panels.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible to define with the Product Electrical and Controls Engineer the best hardware selection and panel design to provide a safe and efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Responsible for design integrity of control panels for FLSmidth products.
  • Responsible for on-time, on budget and quality of control panels for individual orders.
  • Works on standardization, improvement, and development efforts of control panels.
  • Travels to job sites and regional offices as required in support of equipment problems, installations, and start ups. No more than 20% of the time.
  • May assist in development of design standards /guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures.
  • Leads the development of sub-suppliers such as panel shops and control equipment distributors in regards of control interfaces and standardization.
  • Reviews and approves control panel design drawings during order execution.
  • Interfaces with Automation to ensure a common FLSmidth approach to programming controls solutions to all our products.

Skills and Knowledge requirements

  • Associated degree on electrical, electronic or related engineering discipline is essential.
  • 5+ years proven experience in the design of machine control systems is preferred.
  • Proficient with CAD design tools. Experience on Eplan or similar database driven tool is preferred.
  • Proficient in electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to collaborate with core discipline design teams to achieve a working solution to problems and/or design issues
